Birmingham City Council (BCC) are inviting Expressions of Interest (EoI) for community organisations interested in Sheldon Community Centre. The building is being offered on a 125 year lease at a peppercorn rent and the future use of the site is restricted to community purposes only. Essentially, any organisation taking on the building would be expected to continue to run it as a community centre serving the local area.
Although the rent for this building will be minimal, interested groups should be aware that the property requires investment and there are potentially significant costs relating to asbestos in the building. It is also likely that there will be requirements for a community organisation to take on existing BCC staff under the Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) Registrations 2006 (TUPE) requirements.
The process is being undertaken by Siddall Jones Commercial Property Consultants and you can find the listing for the building on their website here.
The EoI form can be found below in PDF format. If you require an editable Word document, please get in touch at contact@savebirmingham.org and we can provide this.
